Scott enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1980. He was trained as an Infantryman and graduated Airborne School in 1982. He received an early commission to 2nd Lieutenant in 1983 and completed his baccalaureate degree 1985. As a commissioned officer, he was branched Quartermaster (QM). His military education included both basic and advanced QM officer course, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, Army Logistics Management Course, and the Logistics Executive Development Course. He attended Command and General Staff Officers Course and completed the security manager’s course, maintenance officer’s course and nuclear, biological and chemical warfare training. During the above staff courses, he accumulated graduate course credits toward his Master’s degree.
Scott lists his most memorable assignments as duty with the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry); Commanding the 1012th CS GS Co. during the Persian Gulf War; service with the 3rd Corps Support Command’s Special Plans & Operations center during Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia); and his assignment with the 21st Theater Support Command (Germany). He is credited with serving 4 overseas tours. Scott also participated in numerous war fighter exercises and was part of the Task Force that supported the Kosovo deployment operations through central region (Germany).
Scott was recognized numerous times for exceptional service. His awards included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, 3 Meritorious Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, South West Asia Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars, NATO Medal and the German Schuetzenschnur (marksmanship) award. Also, the unit he commanded during the Gulf War was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation.
Three things brought Scott to serve his country and the Advanced Prosthetic Center. The first is Selfless Service. The second is Loyalty. And the third is Integrity. Scott Neumiller has worked with Advanced Prosthetic Center as a Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician since July 2002. Scott had completed over 21 years of military service before he became an above-the-knee amputee and was retired from the U.S. Army. His experience of going through an amputation prompted him to become a technician and to ultimately help other amputees.
Scott enrolled in the Veterans Affairs (VA) Vocational Rehabilitation Training and Employment (VR&E) program to become a Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician. He began course work and training with Mark Maguire, CPO in July 2002. He completed all VA requirements and became an employee with Advanced Prosthetic Center in October 2003. Scott now serves the lead technician in the company and produces only the highest quality prosthetics possible.
Theresa Oster Thechnician
Theresa was born and raised in central Oklahoma and has two siblings. After graduating high school, Teresa enrolled in a local college and like most young students hadn’t yet decided on a major. Theresa has always enjoyed working with her hands, and being creative with crafts and sewing projects. After learning about a new O&P technician program offered by a local school it seemed like a perfect fit. She soon transferred to Francis Tuttle Technology Center’s Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician Program and never looked back!
Theresa absolutely loves working with her hands. Custom fabricating artificial limbs and braces is not only her passion, but is also her career. The part of her job she loves the most is taking an artificial limb to its final finish, or lamination. She especially likes to use unique fabrics in this process, giving a prosthesis it own unique identity.
While her job is challenging it is very satisfying, and at the end of the day she knows that she has helped make a difference in someone’s life.
