This program is setting new standards in helping limb loss patients achieve a higher level of function. Why? Very few rehab professionals realize that any progress made in physical therapy is directly affected by the fit and function of a persons prosthesis. Patients make little if any progress during therapy unless an accessible prosthetist is continually monitoring the fit and function of their prosthesis. Our Advanced Rehab Program is an accelerated rehab process where the fitting of a prosthesis is coordinated with an individualized physical therapy program. Gait-training experts provide proven physical therapy techniques while our Prosthetists evaluate, fit, and sustain a new prosthesis.
Who our program is best suited for: This program can benefit any amputee with a goal of overcoming the loss of a limb. Some clients are recent amputees looking to begin a rehab process while others might be an existing wearer that has experienced an unfavorable rehab process.
Patients living greater than 2 hours away come to Omaha for a 4-6 week visit to participate in this program. We will coordinate two therapy session a day scheduled around prosthetic fittings to restore proper mobility.
Why our program works Our Prosthetists and Therapist work as a team. While our Prosthetists work to achieve a properly fitted and aligned prosthesis, our Therapists challenge the abilities of the patient and their new prosthesis. If a problem with the prosthesis arises a Prosthetist is readily available to assess and offer solutions. When the problem isn't related to the prosthesis, our Therapists and Prosthetists will work together to find the appropriate solution. The end result is a patient that is not only a stronger and more confident walker, but the person is more capable of fully utilizing their prosthesis.
